SO, WHAT’S THIS ALL ABOUT...
BASIC CERTIFICATION
Basic level certification is required by all who catechize or teach in Catholic schools and parish programs. Basic level certification should be completed within a two- to three-year period.
Echoes of Faith Plus published by Resources for Christian Living (RCL Benziger) and the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership (NCCL) will be used in its entirety to complete Basic Certification. This means completing the basic certification may be achieved by completing the Echoes of Faith catechist formation program in its entirety. We will be using the online program as well as Catechist Formations. This includes:
Three catechist modules: 1) Getting Started as a Catechist, 2) Roles of a Catechist, and 3) The Person of the Catechist
Five theology modules: 1) I Believe/We Believe (Creed), 2) Liturgy and Sacraments, 3) Catholic Morality, 4) Prayer and Spirituality, and 5) Introduction to the Scriptures
Two of the methodology modules: 1) Introduction to the Learner, and 2) Appropriate Grade Level Methods
Echoes of Faith Plus is published by Resources for Christian Living and the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership. Using a combination of facilitated group discussions, workbooks, and videos, Echoes of Faith offers a well-rounded formation experience.
