The Parish Choir (Open to Young Adults to Adults)
The Parish Choir sings at the 9:00 am Mass on Sundays. This traditional choir sings a variety of styles of music from early classical to relaxed contemporary.  Clarinet, flute, strings, and brass are sometimes used to accompany the choir.  Rehearsals are generally on Wednesdays @ 6:30-7:45PM in the Choir Rehearsal Room & Warm-up is on Sundays at 8:15 am in the Choir Rehearsal Room before Mass.

Youth Choir & Instrumentalists (Open to 8th Grade to Adults)
The Youth Choir sings a mix of Contemporary Christian music at the 5:00 pm Youth Mass on Sundays. Members also participate in Christmas, Easter, Holy Week, and any other Choir Liturgies at which they may serve. The ensemble of singers, pianist, guitarists, bassist, drummer & clarinetists lead the people in song and praise throughout the year. Rehearsals are generally Wednesdays 8:00 - 9:15 pm in the Choir Loft and the group meets on Sundays at 4:00 pm to warm-up.

Children’s Christmas Choir (Open to boys & girls, 1st - 7th grades)
The Children’s Choir is split into an Angel Choir and Loft Choir. The Angel Choir is younger singers (ages 4 and up) who sing for the Prelude Section before Mass.  The Loft Choir sings for both the Prelude & for the entire 4:30 pm Christmas Eve Mass. They are for ages 8 and up and need to be able to read. Rehearsals typically are mostly Tuesdays starting with the last Tuesday in September through December. They are in the Choir Rehearsal Room with the Angel Choir at 6:00 pm & the Loft Choir at 6:30 pm.  If any of the singers are able to play an instrument, they may be able to accompany during the Prelude Section or during the Mass.

VBS Choir & Band (Open to 6th Grade to Adult)
We provide Praise and Worship music for the children, teens and adults participating in Vacation Bible School which takes place every year during the first full week in June.  The singers in this group teach the children movements as they sing.  The Band consists of rhythm guitar, bass guitar, lead guitar, piano, and drums.

Typically, meets Thursdays in the Choir Room starting early May. Contact Kimberly Lies for details or see the bulletin in late April.

Cantors (Open to 8th Grade to Adult)
The Cantors support and lead the singing of the Word at every weekend Mass and at special Masses throughout the year including Weddings and Funerals. Cantors are strongly suggested to attend rehearsals on a monthly basis either with the group or with one of the choirs.  Cantors are to be diligent in supporting their assigned Masses through prayer and practice.  Cantors usually serve once a month.

Solo Instrumentalists (Open to 8th Grade to Adults)
From piano, clarinet, viola, saxophone, guitar, to dulcimer, we strongly encourage and welcome those parishioners who would like to share their musical gift of playing a solo instrument.  We especially are in need of piano and organ substitutes to serve.  For more info, see Kimberly Lies.

A message from our Director of Music Ministry

Dear Friends & Parishioners,
It is hard to believe that almost 13 years have passed in our journey together! We have experienced growth and depth in our “sung prayer” at our parish.  I am so grateful to  everyone who has served faithfully through Christ’s love.
There are many opportunities to serve and grow musically at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.  The Catholic Church has such a rich tradition from which to draw.  It is my hope and prayer that we can experience how powerful making pastoral music can be in the Church.
Please take a moment to review and prayerfully consider where God is calling you to serve.

No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.” Matthew 5:15

“Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises!” Psalm 98:4
