Father Francisco Javier Gamboa- Félix
Fr. Francisco was born and raised in Zacatecas, a historical city in central-northern Mexico. He hails from a family of immigrants—from his mother’s side, they settled in Mexico from Syria, Lebanon and Libya. He is the youngest of four siblings—and the only boy! While discerning his vocation to the priesthood, he served as a lay missionary in different regions of the United States (Georgia, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Utah) as well as in Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland, where he ministered chiefly to Spanish-speaking immigrants.
As for his academic background, he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History, a Masters in Philosophical Studies, and a Master of Divinity. He went to St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, FL for priestly formation. Fr. Francisco loves traveling and pilgrimaging, watching historical dramas and TV series (one of his favorites is the 1984-1991 Sherlock Holmes’ stories starred by Jeremy Brett), reading books on spirituality, history, and law, and lastly, Indian and Turkish food—among other culinary expressions, of course!
