Father Timothy McKeown

Fr. Tim McKeown is honored to serve as your new pastor! His family moved to Augusta in 1980. His junior year of high school was at Aquinas, and he graduated from the Alleluia Community School in 1982. Father then went on to Augusta College, where he majored in English and minored in Education. After college, he taught and coached basketball. He left the Augusta area in 1992 to begin his seminary formation. He was ordained July 5, 1997, at the Cathedral in Savannah.

Fr. Tim has been a priest for 27 years and has been stationed at Saint Joseph’s in Macon, Blessed Sacrament in Savannah, Saint Francis Cabrini in Savannah, and Saint Matthew in Statesboro. He also did one year of graduate school in Rome, finishing a License in Spirituality and then spent three years as Vice Rector of the North American College. Most recently, he served ten years in coastal Georgia ministering to the communities of Saint Francis Xavier, which comprises Brunswick and Jekyll Island and Nativity of Our Lady in Darien Georgia.

This is his first assignment in the Augusta Deanery in 27 years! He is excited about being at St. Teresa of Avila and all the future holds! He hopes to delve into the spirituality of St. Teresa of Avila and seek her intercession as your pastor!
